Message from the Principal
Welcome!
Welcome to Brookdale and thank you for being such a vital part of the Brookdale community! Brookdale is a richly diverse school with nearly 500 students and over 50 staff! At Brookdale, we believe that families play an important role in student success. We appreciate partnering with you and the role that you play by ensuring your child is getting enough rest each night, has a designated place to complete homework, reads (or is read to) at least 20-30 minutes each night, and is at school on time, every day, ready to learn!
This is our first full school year in our beautiful new school! We are excited to share it with families and the community! We are excited to welcome back volunteers! We know students do best when the school and family work together!
We are committed to using equitable, restorative and trauma-informed practices. The Brookdale management system is built on research-based practices geared at setting students up for success. It is a positive, proactive program with a goal creating a safe and positive learning environment. Embracing a growth mindset, we treat academic and behavioral mistakes as an opportunity to learn and grow.
Our instruction and curriculum are designed to help all students meet the Common Core Standards and Next Gen Science Standards. Our goal is to actively engage students in meaningful and rigorous instruction. In addition to our core instruction, students enjoy Art, PE, Music and Library/Technology lessons as well.
We have a variety of programs to meet students’ needs. Our ELL team supports multilingual English learners acquire English and access academics with their peers. We use multi-tiered systems of support (MTSS) to ensure students don’t fall through the cracks. Our skilled Learning Specialists, along with our Behavior Support Team, provide additional support for students in our LAP program. We offer Special Education Services (academic, social/emotional, behavioral, speech, occupational therapy and physical therapy) to students who qualify.
We value the importance that family has in the achievement of students! Your input is important to us! Please don't hesitate to reach out if we can be of assistance or if you have any questions.
Warmly,
Connie Holman, principal
